Q: What all can be done with chin filler injections?
A: Chin filler can do many things. Some female patients deal with a “square” face, and we can add filler to the chin to create a more oval and feminine shape. If a patient has a chin that sets back more (instead of forward), we can add filler in such a way to where the chin no longer appears to sit back. Furthermore, if a person has a short chin, we can add filler to elongate the chin. Also, for individuals who have a dimple in their chin, filler can be added to get rid of that dimple, and if someone requests to have a dimple in their chin area, one can actually be made using chin filler.
Q: How many syringes of filler will I need to budget for if considering getting chin filler?
A: Chin filler takes anywhere from 2 to 4+ syringes of filler. The exact number of syringes needed for the chin varies and depends on each individual’s baseline anatomy, as well as the result they are wanting to achieve. Anything under 2 syringes won’t do much for you, and on average the majority of the chins we have augmented with filler require 2.5 to 3 syringes.
Q: What is the downtime after having had chin filler treatment?
A: There really is not any downtime after having chin filler. There is usually some mild swelling for a few days, and sometimes people have bruising that comes on the next day, but each individual is different. After chin filler treatment, you can still go about your normal life.
Q: Does chin filler treatment hurt?
A: There is little to no pain with chin filler treatment. We apply topical numbing prior to the filler injections. Furthermore, the filler syringe itself has lidocaine in it for extra numbing effects. Once the first 1 to 2 injections are performed, the patient will begin to feel their chin become even more numb.
Q: How long does chin filler last?
A: Each individual is different, but on average chin filler lasts 1 to 1.5 years (and sometimes longer).
